The development of electronic computers is perhaps the most important technological advancement of the second half of the twentieth century. Computers have impacted almost every individual and society, and have shaped the globalization of economy, communication and culture. Computer Science, the science that studies computers and computability, is now a central field of study in every major university, a field that attracts some of the best students and researchers. Recently, historians have begun to study the historical context of these dramatic events, and philosophers have sharpened the concepts underlying the science of computers. In this workshop we intend to gather major researchers in order to explore and discuss ideas and results of these recent studies.
